With today’s inauguration, PT’s data center network capacity, comprised of eight data centres, will increase from 14,000 to 26,000 sqm of white space, from 6,000 to 56,000 servers, and from 3 to 33 Pbytes of storage.

The new data center will allow PT to expand its global positioning in the cloud and data centre services market, leveraging the group’s international footprint in four continents and its ecosystem of leading edge partners to also capture business in other geographies.

PT FTTH (fibre to the home) access network covers 1.6 million households. Its 4G-LTE network covers more than 90 percent of the Portuguese population, and fibre mobile backhauling reaches 92 percent of base stations. MEO, PT’s pay-TV offer, has a market share of 40.4 percent in the pay-TV market.

PT transformed its business model to increase the relevance of value-added services as well as the predictability of the business. Over 50 percent of PT’s revenues in Portugal are now non-voice and the company is driving major transformation in the B2C and B2B segments of the market, from pay-TV and convergence to virtualisation and outsourcing.
