City of Ottawa picks Envista’s cloud based system for utility coordination

Envista Corporation, a provider of
enterprise right-of-way (ROW) coordination solutions via the web, announced
that its Enterprise ROW Coordination Platform has been selected by the City of
Ottawa, Ontario to automate its municipal consent, and infrastructure project
coordination processes.

The City is adopting Envista’s enterprise
suite of cloud-based solutions, including Project Coordination, Attachment
Management, Citizen’s View and the newly developed Municipal Consent module.

“We recognized an extraordinary
opportunity to improve efficiency in planning and managing the many projects
that affect our streets and roads. Through this coordinated effort we expect to
save time, reduce costs and enhance the function and safety of the
infrastructure serving our citizens,” said Wayne Newell, the City of
Ottawa’s general manager of Infrastructure Services.

Ottawa has taken exceptional steps to
streamline paper-based processes by gaining upfront buy-in from Enbridge Gas
Distribution, Hydro Ottawa, Bell Canada, and Rogers to coordinate with the City
through the Envista platform.

Envista’s built-in workflow engine allows
all stakeholders to view project information in a visually rich, dynamic online
environment and share documents electronically.

“Ottawa is unique in already having an
extended ecosystem of utilities onboard to coordinate using the Envista
platform. This is a powerful way to maximize value for all stakeholders by
keeping everyone informed in real time, eliminating labor-intensive manual
processes and dynamically identifying potential conflicts before they impact
projects and the public,” said Brad Steer, senior vice president, Sales
and Marketing, Envista.

Envista recently announced that
the City of Baltimore, Md. used the Envista Enterprise ROW Coordination Platform
to coordinate paving projects, road closures, detours and variable message
signs for the City of Baltimore’s inaugural Grand Prix auto race.
