Actuate and L&T Infotech in global alliance

Actuate Corporation, a provider of BIRT, announced a
global alliance with Larsen & Toubro Infotech(L&T Infotech),
one of the world’s top-ranked global IT services and solutions providers and a fully-owned
subsidiary of the US $11.7 billion Larsen & Toubro.

As part of the alliance, L&T Infotech and Actuate
will collaborate to deploy BIRT and ActuateOne-based custom Business
Intelligence and information applications for the financial services, construction,
infrastructure and manufacturing industries to grow their pipeline of mutual
clients. Additionally, L&T Infotech will train its employees in ActuateOne
and BIRT.

With our highly proactive stature in open source
technologies, we have developed several niche solutions using open source. Many
of our clients use open source platforms and we are seeing a growing interest
in BIRT and ActuateOne within our client base. We believe that BIRT – which is
a widely adopted, open source technology – combined with Actuate’s application
development approach to Business Intelligence, visualization and dashboarding
deployments, shows great promise for a successful, longstanding alliance,” said
V. K. Magapu, director In-Charge of L&T Infotech and Whole-time director
and president (IT, Engineering Services and Corporate Initiatives), L&T.

L&T Infotech and Actuate share many common traits
which we believe will ensure early success,” said Pete Cittadini, president and
CEO of Actuate Corporation.

L&T Infotech is one of the fastest growing global IT
services companies and BIRT is emerging as the fastest growing BI technology in
terms of license revenue growth. This momentum, paired with the fact that over
40 percent of application developers in India are already using or plan to use
BIRT within the next 12 months, represents a great opportunity for L&T
Infotech and Actuate.”

Recently, L&T Infotech has announced ‘Cloud Connect,’ a channel relationship with Intel to provide Intel
Expressway Cloud Access 360 to Enterprise and Software as a Service (SaaS)
providers looking for cloud access security solutions.

“Large-scale adoption of cloud computing in
enterprises is hampered by lack of confidence in solutions in enterprise-grade
access control that can mediate across multiple cloud vendors and services. The
Intel Expressway Cloud Access 360 addresses the concerns that these enterprises
have by providing a robust enterprise-class solution. Our partnership with
Intel for providing this solution, as part of our cloud computing services
portfolio, will significantly boost the reliability and value of the solutions
and services that we deliver to our end clients,” said Abhay Chitnis, CTO, L&T Infotech.
