Aastra buys Comdasys to enhance fixed mobile convergence offering

Telecom Lead America: Aastra Technologies, a developer of
integrated solutions that address the communication needs of enterprises, has
acquired Comdasys AG.

Aastra will operate Comdasys as a separate operating unit
which will continue to offer its solutions and provide services to its existing
customers and continue to seek new customers.

Furthermore, Comdasys will continue to enhance Aastra’s
fixed mobile convergence solutions, as well as Aastra’s mobile video solutions
for its BluStar platform.

Headquartered in Munich, Germany, Comdasys offers fixed
mobile convergence solutions which enable smartphones to become full-featured
PBX extensions with Unified Communication capabilities.

Comdasys enables enterprises to leverage their existing
communication infrastructure to implement more efficient and cost-effective
mobile communication solutions.

In recent years, Aastra has accelerated expansion through
acquisitions. By basing its development strategy on external growth, Aastra has
increased its market presence aggressively by acquiring companies with
complementary geographical footprints, product portfolio and expertise and
channel partners.

The company acquired Ascom PBX in 2003,
which complemented Aastra’s existing terminals offering and provided a
strong presence in the SME enterprise telephony market.

Furthermore, Astra acquired EADS enterprise telephony
solutions in 2005, which increased Aastra’s portfolio to address the medium and
large enterprise markets as well as IP telephony.

Same year, DeTeWe, one of the founding partners of DECT
technology, was acquired by the company. DeTeWe brought expertise in wireless
products.

In 2008, Ericsson’s Enterprise Communication division
gave Aastra a stronger footprint in EMEA and in the emerging markets, and has
strengthened Aastra’s portfolio of communication solutions for medium to large
enterprises as well as video conferencing and integrated mobility.

In 2001, Aastra Technologies acquired Ericsson Inc-Cable
Modem Bus from Telefonaktiebolaget. Also, the company acquired the video compression
unit of Lucent Technologies Inc in the same year.
