Internet users in India to double to 400-550 million in 2018: BCG

The number of Internet users in India is expected to reach 400-550 million in 2018 from 200 million in 2014, said The Boston Consulting Group (BCG)

The connected consumers is expected soon to be older, more rural, and more female.

Internet users are spending more time with their digital devices, especially smartphones, as they discover new capabilities and content.

A majority of Indians who embrace the Internet, particularly rural consumers, have bypassed the PC and are using mobile devices to get online on the go.

The use of vernacular content online is estimated to increase from 45 percent in 2013 to more than 60 percent in 2018.

Websites & apps such as Google, Facebook, and YouTube are often the first destination for digital consumers.
