India leads in mobile subscriber additions in Q3: Ericsson

Mobile subscriptions in India
Ericsson Mobility Report issued today said India added 13 million new mobile subscribers in the third quarter of 2015.

India is leading the telecom market in terms of net addition of mobile subscribers in Q3 — followed by China (+7 million), the US (+6 million), Myanmar (+5 million), and Nigeria (+4 million).

The total number of mobile subscriptions in Q3 2015 was around 7.3 billion, including 87 million new subscriptions, said Ericsson Mobility Report.
Mobile subscriptions in India in Q3
Smartphones accounted for close to 75 percent of all mobile phones sold in Q3 2015, compared to around 70 percent during Q3 2014. Today around 45 percent of all mobile phone subscriptions are associated with smartphones, compared with around 40 percent in 2014.

The number of mobile broadband subscriptions is growing globally by around 25 percent, increasing by approximately 160 million in Q3 2015 alone.

LTE subscriptions reached around 850 million subscriptions, with approximately 120 million additions in Q3 2015. 3G network on WCDMA/HSPA added around 70 million in Q3.
