The 12-inch prototype screen stretches to 18 inches, featuring high resolution (100ppi) and full RGB color.

LG Display said its advancements include a new silicon material substrate, a micro-LED light source (up to 40μm), and a novel wiring design, enabling durability and repeated stretching up to 10,000 times, even in extreme conditions.

The stretchable display, adaptable to irregular surfaces like clothing and skin, is anticipated for use in industries such as fashion, wearables, and mobility. Concepts include automotive panels and wearable firefighter displays for real-time information.

LG Display leads South Korea’s national project for stretchable display development, collaborating with 19 domestic partners. This project aims to secure next-generation display technology and support local R&D, materials, and infrastructure.

Soo-young Yoon, LG Display’s CTO, has emphasized ongoing collaboration across South Korean industry and academia to foster a sustainable display technology ecosystem.
