Ericsson to supply MediaFirst solution for SaskTel IPTV

EricssonTelecom equipment and software major Ericsson announced its IPTV deal with SaskTel, an ICT provider in Saskatchewan, Canada, to power its IPTV service.

SaskTel will implement the Ericsson MediaFirst solution this year. SaskTel plans to commercially launch its enhanced IPTV service in Saskatchewan in early 2018.

Ericsson MediaFirst will offer new features over a new Pay TV in-home and TV everywhere product – to SaskTel subscribers. Existing maxTV subscribers will receive new features including a personalized interface across all screens and the ability to watch live TV and access content on demand on any device.

Ericsson MediaFirst platform will allow SaskTel to expand maxTV service to 100,000 new households spread across more than 300 communities throughout rural Saskatchewan.
