ZTE, Alcatel-Lucent and FiberHome in GPON deal with China Mobile

ZTE, Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell and FiberHome bagged orders to supply GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) equipment to China Mobile.

China Mobile’s tender is for more than 614,000 ONUs (Optical Network Unit) and over 3,000 OLTs (Optical Line Terminal).

Bei Jinsong, director of Optical Access Products at ZTE, said: “Our efforts have resulted in industry-leading product performance and increasing market acceptance for ZTE’s GPON equipment.”

Ovum says ZTE’s GPON equipment shipments in the fourth quarter rose 27 percent sequentially, benefiting from demand in the Americas, Europe and China.
