Songbird Telecom Bangladesh deploys VoIP switches from WTL

Songbird Telecom Bangladesh is using VoIP switches from World Telecom Labs (WTL) to improve call quality, increase capacity and reduce the cost of international connectivity.

The telecom operator has deployed WTL’s switches on its VoIP network that interconnects to the networks of at least 25 other local operators. WTL’s switches have been deployed on a VoIP link to and from London enabling Songbird to offer high-quality voice termination to Bangladesh.

For Songbird, VoIP has proved to be a cost-effective and scalable way to increase both capacity and coverage in Bangladesh, where fixed teledensity is currently less than 1 percent.

“We are handling millions of minutes a day faultlessly. We were impressed with the improvement in the quality and capacity on our VoIP network following the installation of the WTL switches,” said Syed Nuruzzaman Limon, head of Operations at Songbird.
