Small cell solutions vendor Airvana has appointed Richard Lowe as CEO and president.

Richard most recently served as chairman of iPhotonix, a provider of optical network access devices.

Prior to that, he was president of Wireless Networks at Nortel Networks.

Airvana said its small cells deliver better quality mobile voice and data service to residential and enterprise users. The company has shipped over a million small cells and helps manage one of the largest single small cell networks in operation today.

Airvana’s current CEO and chairman Randy Battat will remain on as chairman of the board.
