India Mobile Congress Launches Viksit Tech 47 to Build Global Indian Technology Brands

India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 has launched Viksit Tech 47, a new initiative designed to identify and promote promising Indian technology companies, innovators and industry leaders as the country works toward its Viksit Bharat 2047 ambition.

India Mobile Congress 2026

The first edition of Viksit Tech 47 will be part of the 10th India Mobile Congress, scheduled for October 7-10, 2026, at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi.

The initiative expands the focus of India Mobile Congress beyond telecom networks and digital infrastructure to the broader Indian technology ecosystem, including electronics, artificial intelligence, connected devices, manufacturing, mobility and enterprise software.

Viksit Tech 47 Targets India’s Next Generation of Technology Leaders

Viksit Tech 47 has been designed as a platform to identify Indian companies and entrepreneurs with the potential to build globally competitive technology businesses.

The initiative aligns with India’s Viksit Bharat by 2047 vision and the country’s efforts to strengthen domestic technology capabilities, reduce dependence on imported products and components, and create more intellectual property within India.

The programme will cover technology companies operating across several major categories, including:

Consumer devices

Wearables and audio

Video and surveillance

Connected mobility

Smart home and Internet of Things (IoT)

Components and electronics manufacturing

Artificial intelligence and deep tech

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms

The broad scope is significant because India’s technology ambitions increasingly extend beyond software services. The country is seeking a larger role across the technology value chain, including product design, electronics manufacturing, semiconductor development, AI platforms, devices and intellectual property.

More Than 200 Indian Technology Companies to Be Studied

One of the major components of Viksit Tech 47 will be a flagship industry report examining India’s position in the global technology value chain.

The report, scheduled to be released during IMC 2026, will study more than 200 Indian technology companies.

Its research will also include discussions with company founders and industry experts to develop a broader picture of India’s technology ecosystem, its strengths and the challenges companies face when expanding internationally.

The research could provide useful insights into whether India’s growing base of technology companies can make the transition from successful domestic businesses to global technology brands.

IMC Wants Indian Technology Companies to Compete Globally

Ramakrishna P., CEO of India Mobile Congress, said India already possesses significant technological talent and ambition, but Indian companies need stronger platforms to help them compete internationally.

According to Ramakrishna, Viksit Tech 47 is intended to identify some of India’s most promising technology businesses and support their evolution into global brands.

The longer-term ambition is to establish Viksit Tech 47 as a launchpad for Indian companies seeking to move from domestic market success toward international recognition.

That objective fits with the wider transformation of India’s technology industry. The country’s digital economy has traditionally been recognised internationally for IT services and software talent. The next phase is increasingly focused on creating Indian-owned products, platforms, hardware technologies and intellectual property capable of competing in global markets.

Dr. Zarabi Indigenisation Award to Recognise Startups

Viksit Tech 47 will also introduce the Dr. Zarabi Indigenisation Award for Startups, focusing specifically on technology companies contributing to India’s domestic manufacturing and product-development capabilities.

The award will recognise startups developing innovations in areas such as product design, engineering, electronic components and manufacturing.

A major objective is to highlight companies developing hardware, devices, gadgets and appliances that India previously depended on imports to obtain.

Indigenisation has become increasingly important as India attempts to build a deeper domestic electronics ecosystem rather than serving primarily as an assembly location.

For Indian technology companies, greater control over product design, components, engineering and intellectual property could also improve their ability to capture a larger share of the value generated by global electronics and digital technology markets.

AI, Deep Tech and Electronics Manufacturing in Focus

The inclusion of AI and deep tech, components and manufacturing, IoT, connected mobility and SaaS gives Viksit Tech 47 a wide technology mandate.

Artificial intelligence has emerged as one of the biggest areas of technology investment globally, while India is simultaneously attempting to strengthen its domestic capabilities in electronics, semiconductor technologies and digital infrastructure.

Connected mobility and IoT are also becoming increasingly important as telecom networks evolve and connectivity expands across vehicles, factories, utilities, homes and cities.

For India’s technology ecosystem, the opportunity therefore extends beyond producing devices for domestic consumers. Indian companies increasingly have an opportunity to develop technologies that can be exported or deployed globally.

Viksit Tech 47 aims to provide greater visibility to businesses demonstrating this potential.

IMC 2026 Expects More Than 150,000 Attendees

The launch of Viksit Tech 47 comes as India Mobile Congress prepares for its 10th edition, which will operate under the theme “Scale Without Boundaries.”

The theme reflects the ambition to help Indian technologies, companies and ideas expand beyond the domestic market.

IMC 2026 expects to attract more than 1.5 lakh attendees, making it one of Asia’s largest technology and connectivity events.

The organisers are also targeting:

300+ exhibitors and partners

Participation from more than 100 countries

More than 1,500 technology use cases

The scale of the event gives Viksit Tech 47 a platform to introduce emerging Indian technology companies to telecom operators, technology vendors, investors, enterprises, government representatives and international delegates.

India Mobile Congress Expands Beyond Telecom

India Mobile Congress began with a strong focus on telecom and mobile technologies, but its scope has expanded alongside the convergence of telecom, cloud, AI, electronics and enterprise technologies.

IMC 2026 is expected to showcase developments across areas including 5G, 6G, AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, IoT, satellite communications, electronics, smart devices, enterprise technology and digital infrastructure.

This convergence is also changing the competitive landscape for Indian technology companies. A telecom network increasingly depends on cloud infrastructure and AI, vehicles are becoming connected computing platforms, and consumer electronics are becoming part of wider AI and IoT ecosystems.

As a result, building globally competitive Indian technology companies will require capabilities spanning software, hardware, manufacturing, connectivity and intellectual property.

Viksit Tech 47 Links Technology Innovation With Viksit Bharat 2047

Viksit Tech 47 ultimately connects India’s technology ambitions with the broader Viksit Bharat 2047 programme.

Rather than measuring progress solely through the size of India’s domestic technology market, the initiative puts greater emphasis on whether Indian businesses can create intellectual property, manufacture products domestically and build brands with international reach.

The first Viksit Tech 47 report, based on research covering more than 200 companies, could therefore become an important benchmark for assessing the progress of India’s technology ecosystem.

With 150,000-plus attendees, 300-plus exhibitors and partners, participation from over 100 countries and more than 1,500 technology use cases expected at IMC 2026, India Mobile Congress will provide a large international stage for that ambition.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) are organising India Mobile Congress 2026. For Viksit Tech 47, the larger objective goes beyond recognising successful Indian companies. It is to identify technology businesses capable of turning India’s domestic scale, engineering talent and growing manufacturing capabilities into globally competitive Indian technology brands.
