C Spire to acquire MegaGate Broadband

C Spire is set to acquire MegaGate Broadband, a regional provider of IP voice, data, and business telecom solutions.

The acquisition of the Hattiesburg- headquartered is part of C Spire’s vision to expand its services and diversify its core telecommunications and technology services.

MegaGate serves most Mississippi business markets as a local exchange telecom provider and as an Internet service provider.

In September, 2013, C Spire launched 1 Gbps fiber-based Internet access to homes in nine Mississippi cities.

In February 2014, the company acquired Mobile, Alabama-based Callis Communications, a provider of cloud-based communications services for businesses.

C Spire plans to open in November a new $23 million Tier III+ data center in Starkville, Miss., which will power a full suite of enterprise cloud services and solutions for businesses across the Southeast region.
