The state-run telecom service provider BSNL today said its interim Chairman and Managing Director will be A N Rai.

A N Rai is currently BSNL’s director (Enterprise).

On June 30, RK Upadhyay, CMD of BSNL, completed his term at superannuation age of 60.

Tenure of Upadhyay was to end in April this year. He received a month’s extension by the department of telecom (DoT) after approval from the then telecom minister Kapil Sibal, and for another month till end of June when he turned 60.

PTI reported that the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) had recommended Anupam Shrivastava, director for consumer mobile services, for the post but Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) is yet to give his final approval.

Last week, ACC approved the appointment of P K Purwar as MTNL CMD on recommendation of PESB.
