Aircel, an Indian telecom operator, has achieved a growth 1.34 percent on quarterly and 7.32 percent on annual basis to 90.14 million mobile subscribers in the September quarter of 2016, TRAI data revealed.
For comparison, Bharti Airtel, the mobile market leader, achieved 1.65 percent growth on quarterly basis and 10.47 percent increase on annual basis to 263.74 million subscribers.
Reliance Jio, the pan India 4G operator, has added 15.98 million subscribers in September, its first month of business.
Aircel added 1.36 million subscribers as compared with Bharti Airtel’s 4.27 million in the September quarter of 2016.
Aircel has 8.39 percent share in the Indian mobile market.
Aircel has 31.13 million subscribers in rural India.
Aircel is the fifth largest Internet service provider in India with a market share of 5.59 percent. Aircel has 20551313 Internet subscribers.
The quarterly revenue of Aircel from access services was Rs 4,328.30 crore against Rs 1,985.82 crore in the previous quarter. The September quarter revenue of Aircel includes spectrum surrender as well, TRAI said.
Aircel’s revenue in June quarter fell 0.85 percent to Rs 1,985.82 crore.
