Vodafone India today said its 8.4 million Vodafone M-Pesa customers can withdraw cash using their digital wallet from 120,000 Vodafone M-Pesa outlets, subject to availability.

This means Vodafone M-Pesa customers do not need to stand in long queues outside ATMs and bank branches for cash.

Vodafone has invested in building a nationwide network of over 120,000 M-Pesa outlets, equivalent to the numbers of bank branches in the country. Over 56 percent of these outlets are located in the rural India.

“Our customers can visit any of these outlets and use the unique cash out feature of Vodafone M-Pesa to withdraw cash from their digital wallet at their convenience,” said Suresh Sethi, business head, Vodafone M-Pesa.

Vodafone M-Pesa digital wallet can be loaded via credit or debit card or net banking. Users can use Vodafone M-Pesa wallet to shop online, pay bills and remit money to family and friends.

Customers need to carry an identity proof to Vodafone M-Pesa outlet in order to withdraw money, subject to availability, in line with RBI guidelines.

Customers need to download the Vodafone M-Pesa App to start using Vodafone M-Pesa. The App welcomes all M-Pesa users — both Vodafone and non-Vodafone customers — and prompts existing users to Login and new users to register for M-Pesa.

M-Pesa App allows consumers to recharge their mobile & DTH, pay their post-paid, electricity, gas and landline bills from their mobile. At present, customers can load their wallets using, debit cards, credit cards and net banking free of cost.
