Indian telecom network operators BSNL and Bharti Airtel are in initial talks for spectrum sharing in four mobile circles.

A spectrum sharing deal between Bharti Airtel and BSNL, a state-run telecom operator, is likely to be finalized by June, news wire agency PTI reports.

BSNL is looking at sharing spectrum in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (West), Bihar and Assam and has formed a committee to look into the feasibility aspect.

“Some preliminary discussions are going on at this stage. BSNL is open to spectrum sharing with all operators but currently the discussions are taking place with Airtel,” said BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Shrivastava.

Recently, Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Communications announced a spectrum sharing deal to boost their 4G presence.

This apart, Idea Cellular and Videocon Telecom have a spectrum sharing agreement.
