T-Mobile taps Verizon customers with free Hulu

T-Mobile CEO John Legere
Telecom network operator T-Mobile US wants Verizon customers to switch. Its offer, the fourth gift in its series of Un-carrier Unwrapped, is 12 months of Hulu watching.

Verizon customers can use the $100 Hulu gift code for one year of limited commercials plan valued at $7.99 per month or any other Hulu plan.

T-Mobile’s earlier three offers include: 3 months of Unlimited LTE to Simple Choice customers; $200 per line for switching from Sprint; and phone memory upgrade and 50 percent off on accessories for AT&T customers.

In addition, T-Mobile’s offering up to half discount on its financed in-store accessories for Verizon customers who join the Un-carrier. There will be up to $125 discount on the mobile gifts such as smartwatches, UE Boom and JBL Bluetooth speakers, headphones, Fitbit fitness trackers, Guitar Hero Live for iOS and more.

“Verizon customers put up with a lot of sneaky tricks from Big Red these days. Overpriced data, shocking overage penalties and no early upgrade option – just to name a few,” said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile.

T-Mobile feels free Hulu will attract Verizon customers to switch to the new offer. For instance, Verizon and other telecom’s customers are paying inflated data charges and overages, in addition to a normal subscription fee, for watching Hulu.

Watching a full season of Hulu’s original The Mindy Project consumes about 2.6 GBs of high-speed data. The price will be nearly $40 extra on your Verizon bill, depending on the data plan. In the case of Verizon, there may be overage penalties of $15 if use a single KB over your data limit.

In addition, Verizon’s customers are eligible for T-Mobile’s Carrier Freedom and up to $650 per line or more to cover Verizon’s early termination fees (ETFs) or the balance owed on your Verizon phone when you switch your number to T-Mobile with a trade-in.
