Vitesse Semiconductor to expand in India to tap mobile broadband market

Telecom Lead India: Vitesse Semiconductor, a provider of IC solutions for Carrier and Enterprise networks, is expanding in india.

WPI Group, a subsidiary of WPG Holdings, a semiconductor distributor, will handle distribution of Vitesse’s complete product line in India.

According to GSMA, India will become the second largest mobile broadband market globally within four years, with over 367 million mobile broadband connections by 2016. In the same time period, the United States is expected to account for 337 million mobile broadband connections, while China is forecasted to be the largest mobile broadband market, with an estimated 639 million mobile broadband connections by 2016.

“Carriers in the region recognize that technologies, like Vitesse’s IEEE1588v2 VeriTime network timing technology, offer an efficient way to deploy new generations of their network systems. We remain strategically committed to enabling the transition to 4G/LTE and cloud computing,” said Phil Richards, vice president of sales at Vitesse.

In 2011, Vitesse announced an exclusive relationship with WPG subsidiary, WPG Americas, to distribute Vitesse products in the Americas.

Vitesse products enable the fastest-growing network infrastructure markets including Mobile Access/IP Edge, Cloud Computing and SMB/SME Enterprise Networking.
