Benefits of Intel Xeon 6 for Nokia Core Network customers

Intel and Nokia have expanded their collaboration to enhance 5G core network infrastructure by integrating Intel Xeon 6 processors with Efficient-cores (E-cores) into Nokia’s NFVI v5.0 and Core Networks Applications.

Intel said this joint initiative aims to deliver up to 60 percent power savings, a 60 percent reduction in server footprint, and a 150 percent performance improvement compared to previous-generation systems.

The deal also incorporates Intel’s Infrastructure Power Manager (IPM) to enable power-aware compute, reduce operational costs, and support Nokia’s sustainability goals. Trials with cloud service providers have already validated the energy efficiency of this solution. The integration will support Nokia’s upcoming Packet Core Application v25.7, with availability expected later this year.

Massive Performance Boost: Compared to previous-generation servers, Intel Xeon 6 with IPM delivers up to 150 percent higher performance, ensuring faster processing of demanding 5G core workloads.

Lower Operating Costs: Reduced power usage and fewer servers translate to lower operational expenditures, including energy and cooling costs.

Reduced Carbon Emissions: With significant gains in power efficiency, the solution supports sustainability goals by cutting the carbon footprint of telecom infrastructure.
