Deutsche Telekom Q2 2024 financial result and achievements

Deutsche Telekom has revealed its financial result and main achievements for the second-quarter of 2024.

Deutsche Telekom network Europe

Deutsche Telekom said service revenues increased by 4.9 percent to €24.1 billion with net profit of €2.1 billion (up 35.6 percent) in the second-quarter of 2024.

“All our operations are performing well,” said Tim Hottges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom. “Quarter by quarter, we are seeing our strategy pay off.”

Deutsche Telekom reported capital expenditure of €3.859 billion in the second-quarter.

Deutsche Telekom is targeting Capex of €16.6 billion for 2024 by aiming to spend €4.6 billion in Germany, $9.8 billion in the United States, and €1.8 billion in Europe.

Deutsche Telekom has 200,402 employees including 77,051 in Germany.

Germany

Deutsche Telekom’s Germany revenue rose 3.6 percent to €6.369 billion in the second-quarter and grew 3.1 percent to €12.667 billion in the first-half.

In Germany, Deutsche Telekom has added 113,000 fiber-optic lines. Deutsche Telekom has 1.2 million fiber-optic lines at the end of June in Germany. Deutsche Telekom added 114,000 TV connections thanks to demand during the UEFA European Championship. Deutsche Telekom has added 41,000 broadband connections. Deutsche Telekom added 311,000 contract customers.

Deutsche Telekom Germany has 65.192 million mobile phone customers including 25.838 million contract customers.

Deutsche Telekom Germany has 15.098 million broadband customers that include 13.065 million fiber broadband users.

Broadband revenues grew 4 percent to €1,861 million. Single play and other revenues dropped 0.1 percent to 1,399 million.

Mobile churn was 0.8 percent.

Fiber deployment in Germany is on track for >10 million households by the year-end.

United States

T-Mobile US has reported 4.1 percent rise in revenue to $18.282 billion in the first-quarter and 1.3 percent increase to $36.291 billion in the half-revenue.

T-Mobile US, a Deutsche Telekom subsidiary, has more than 100 million postpaid customers as of June 30 — for the first time. T-Mobile US added 1.3 million postpaid connections, including 777,000 postpaid phone net customer additions. T-Mobile US has 25.283 million prepaid customers.

T-Mobile USA announced its fiber joint venture with EQT targeting 3.5 million homes by 2028. JV with KKR will be targeting 6.5 million FTTH homes by 2030.

T-Mobile USA said 87 percent of 5G traffic carried on sites with all three spectrum layers, delivering better consistent network experience.

Europe

Deutsche Telekom’s revenue from Europe grew 6.8 percent to €3.1 billion. In Europe, Deutsche Telekom has added 183,000 mobile contract customers, 53,000 broadband customers, and 23,000 TV customers during the second quarter. In Europe (excluding Germany) Deutsche Telekom has 49,287 million mobile phone customers, 8.033 million fixedline customers, and 7.099 million broadband customers.

Fiber deployment in Europe is on track for >10 million households with 1 Gbps by year-end. Fiber coverage in Europe has reached 37 percent of households.

T-Systems, Deutsche Telekom’s enterprise business, reported 2.1 percent increase in revenue to €981 million in the second-quarter, driven by cloud services and by digitalization solutions.
