This increase was driven by higher revenues in its Mobility and Consumer Wireline segments, offsetting declines in Business Wireline and Mexico.

AT&T’s mobility service revenues grew 3.5 percent to $16.9 billion, propelled by subscriber growth and higher average revenue per user.

AT&T’s consumer fiber broadband revenue surged by 18.9 percent to $2.1 billion, reflecting continued demand for high-speed internet.

AT&T Chairman and CEO John Stankey said the company is performing strongly in a competitive market, driven by its leadership in wireless and fiber networks. He highlighted growing customer preference for AT&T’s advanced technology and service options.

John Stankey pointed to key milestones in the quarter, including passing over 30 million fiber locations, surpassing 1 million AT&T Internet Air customers, and the planned acquisition of Lumen’s Mass Markets fiber business — all reinforcing AT&T’s position as a leader in connectivity.

AT&T posted a net income of $4.9 billion, up from $3.9 billion in the prior-year quarter, and adjusted EBITDA rose to $11.7 billion from $11.3 billion.

Looking ahead, AT&T expects low-single-digit consolidated service revenue growth for full-year 2025, with mobility service revenue growing 3 percent or more and consumer fiber broadband revenue rising in the mid-to-high teens. The company is also forecasting free cash flow in the low-to-mid $16 billion range for the year, supported by strong operating performance and strategic investments.

ARPU

AT&T’s postpaid phone average revenue per user (ARPU) rose 1.1 percent to $57.04 in the second quarter of 2025.

AT&T’s broadband ARPU grew 7.5 percent to $71.16, driven by a continued shift toward higher-value fiber plans.

AT&T’s fiber ARPU increased 6.2 percent to $73.26, reflecting customer preference for premium-speed offerings. These ARPU gains contributed to overall revenue growth in both mobility and consumer wireline segments, underscoring the effectiveness of AT&T’s strategy to drive value through upgraded services and network investments.

Subscribers

AT&T added 401,000 postpaid phone subscribers in the second quarter of 2025, supported by strong demand for its wireless services.

The company also saw 243,000 net additions for AT&T Fiber and 203,000 for AT&T Internet Air, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of positive broadband net additions.

Total wireless net adds reached 289,000, with postpaid net adds of 479,000 and prepaid phone net losses of 34,000. In Latin America, AT&T added 235,000 wireless subscribers, including 183,000 postpaid additions. These subscriber gains reflect the company’s continued success in leveraging its converged connectivity offerings across mobility and broadband.

Capex

AT&T reported capital expenditures of $4.9 billion in the second quarter of 2025, up from $4.4 billion a year earlier, while total capital investment, which includes vendor financing payments, reached $5.1 billion, compared to $4.9 billion in the prior-year period. The company expects full-year 2025 capital investment in the range of $22 to $22.5 billion. AT&T plans to invest a portion of its projected $6.5 to $8.0 billion in cash tax savings from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act into accelerating its fiber internet build-out, aiming to reach a deployment pace of 4 million locations per year by the end of 2026.

By 2030, the company expects to pass approximately 50 million customer locations with its in-region fiber and over 60 million fiber locations when including assets from its Lumen Mass Markets acquisition, Gigapower joint venture, and commercial open-access partnerships. From 2026 to 2027, AT&T projects annual capital investment to increase to the $23 to $24 billion range.
