Tekelec equips 4 service providers with its Diameter Signaling Router for LTE services

Telecom Lead America: Tekelec announced that four service
providers from Asia-pacific and America have selected Telelec’s Diameter
Signaling Router (DSR) for carrying their LTE services.

These service providers include two North American
providers, one Tier 1 provider from Asia-Pacific region and a major hub
provider in the Asia-Pacific region.

With the help of these routers, these operators are now
able to scale LTE networks to tens of millions of subscribers. They can also
offer subscribers international LTE roaming services along with providing
direct valuable subscriber profiles to the appropriate LTE Home.

Furthermore, the service providers are also empowered to
use subscriber Server for authentication and manage signaling traffic increases
resulting from new mobile data plans, such as shared data plans or
application-based service tiers.

“LTE deployments are accelerating as a result of the
increasing demand for mobile data services, compelling network economics and
innovative new service opportunities,” said Brian Partridge, vice
president of research, Yankee Group.

Being the central nervous system of the New Diameter
Network, these routers helps operators manage mobile data and signaling growth
and profit from mobile data services.

The DSR carries all messages using Diameter, the protocol
for network policy, charging, mobility management and authorization
information.

“Each new Diameter network is an achievement for the
advancement of LTE and a milestone for Tekelec. Forward-looking service
providers are relying on a scalable Diameter signaling core to deliver advanced
policies and capture new revenue streams,” said Doug Suriano, Tekelec’s CTO

Tekelec selected by U.S. LTE operator to expand diameter
network

Recently, a U.S. LTE operator selected Tekelec to
expand its new Diameter network. The service provider will implement two new
Tekelec Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) systems.
