Si.mobil launches LTE services in Slovenia, powered by Nokia Siemens

Telecom Lead Europe: Si.mobil has launched LTE services in Slovenia. The 4G services in powered by Nokia Siemens.

Nokia Siemens Networks is providing the radio access network and related services for the operator’s 4G network. Si.mobil’s subscribers in Ljubljana, Brnik and Bled now have access to ultra high-speed 4G mobile broadband with data speeds up to 100 Mbps.

At present, the mobile operator is providing telecom services for 639,698 users.

“Our customers can now enjoy a significantly superior user experience with fast download and response times. Nokia Siemens Networks has realized our vision of deploying a future-ready network across Ljubljana, Brnik and Bled. Users in these cities can now enjoy data speeds typically ranging from 30 to 80 Mbps,” said Johannes Nabecker, director of Access and Transport Network at Si.mobil.

 

Nokia Siemens provides its Single Radio Access Network (RAN) based on its energy-efficient Flexi Multiradio Base Station to enable Si.mobil to provide 4G services.

 

The mobile broadband equipment maker also supplies its NetAct network management system to ensure monitoring and optimization for Si.mobil’s 2G, 3G and 4G networks. Moreover, Nokia Siemens offers support services including commissioning and optimization of the base stations.

 

“It took us just one month to implement this deal that paves the way for the introduction of 4G services in Slovenia”, said Daria Horvat, account manager at Nokia Siemens Networks.

 

Nokia Siemens claims that it is number one in the world in mobile broadband. The company has 66 commercial references in place for the delivery of LTE.

 

Si.mobil is part of Telekom Austria Group and has a strategic partnership with Vodafone. The company, at the end of 2011, had 29.7 percent market share.
