RuggedCom, a
manufacturer of industrial strength networks, announced their participation in
a Philadelphia implementation project in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent.
“We are
delighted that RuggedCom’s RuggedMAX solution was selected for this key
infrastructure project,” said Elik Jaeger, vice president RuggedWIRELESS.
“RuggedMAX
was selected by Philadelphia-based PECO for broadband wireless
applications,” said Mark Madden, regional vice president, North American
Utilities, Alcatel-Lucent.
RuggedCom’s
RuggedMAX is the world’s first utility grade mobile WiMAX platform designed for
the harsh environment of an electric substation by complying with standards
such as IEEE 1613 and IEC 61850-3.
RuggedMAX
supports a unique standalone network architecture, which can operate without
the need for an ASN gateway, ultimately reducing end-to-end latency and
improving system reliability.
