NTT Docomo plans LTE / 4G service with 150Mbps speed

Telecom service provider (telecoms) NTT Docomo will begin verifying its Xi LTE service with a maximum downlink of 150 Mbps in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture from July 30.

The verification will take place prior to Docomo’s launch of 150 Mbps commercial Xi LTE service, the fastest in Japan, starting in parts of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya this October.

Docomo, in addition to improving the quality of its LTE / 4G network for increased reliability, continues to upgrade LTE coverage and data transmission speeds, most recently by expanding 112.5 Mbps downlink service to more than 130 cities as of this month.

NTT Docomo new

SK Telecom recently said its LTE-A service through smartphones offers network speeds of up to 150 Mbps, which is two times faster than LTE, and 10 times faster than 3G network.

Taking one more giant leap in the LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) market, SK Telecom’s LTE-A users can download an 800MB movie in 43 seconds. SK Telecom will offer LTE-A service at the price of LTE. This means, there will be no increase in price for the new version.
