tablet Applications Processor (AP) market 2015
The tablet Applications Processor (AP) market declined 33 percent to $2.7 billion in 2015, according to Strategy Analytics.

Apple, Qualcomm, Intel, MediaTek and Samsung LSI captured the top-five revenue share rankings in the tablet AP market in 2015.

Apple maintained its tablet AP market share leadership with 31 percent revenue share, followed by Qualcomm with 16 percent revenue share and Intel with 14 percent revenue share, narrowly ahead of MediaTek.

For the first time, tablet AP market declined due to competition from large screen smartphones, long replacement cycles and a slowdown in the tablet devices market.

The report noted that Intel ceded its non-iPad tablet AP unit share leadership to MediaTek as the company shifted focus to improve profitability in its mobile business.

Intel scored some prominent design-wins in 2015 with the help of its 14 nm-based Atom X5 and Atom X7 APs.

In addition, Intel’s 3G integrated tablet AP Atom X3 contributed over 10 percent of Intel’s total tablet AP volumes in 2015.
