Micromax joins top 10 global phone maker league in Q1 2015

Gartner has shared the list of top 10 phone makers in the world during Q1 2015. Micromax has taken the top 10 position, said Gartner.

Samsung has 21.3 percent share in the global phone market, while Apple 13.1 percent, Microsoft 7.2 percent, LG Electronics 4.3 percent, Lenovo/Motorola 4.2 percent, Huawei 4 percent, Xiaomi 3.2 percent, TCL Communication 3.1 percent, ZTE 2.7 percent and Micromax 1.8 percent.

Mobile phone sales to end users rose 2.5 percent to 460.3 million units during the first quarter of 2015.

In the smartphone segment, Samsung is leading with 24.2 percent, Apple 17.9 percent, Lenovo / Motorola 5.6 percent, Huawei 5.4 percent and LG Electronics 4.6 percent

Sales of smartphones to end users grew 19.3 percent to 336 million units — led by smartphone sales in emerging markets excluding China. The fastest growing regions were emerging Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa. Emerging markets achieved 40 percent increase in sales during the first quarter of 2015.
