Alcatel-Lucent, Juniper, and ZTE have outpaced the market in the global telecoms service provider core router segment in the third quarter of 2015.
Dell’Oro Group the market size of the global telecom service provider Core Router rose nine percent in Q3 2015. The report did not reveal the size of the core router market.
The growth driver was the demand for 100 Gbps Ethernet backbones by telecom network operators.
“We expect this momentum to continue into 2016 as newer core router platforms and line cards go from test to deployment stages, and next generation 100 Gbps Ethernet optical interfaces become available,” said Alam Tamboli, senior analyst at Dell’Oro Group.
The telecom research report said service providers in several regions cut back spending on Edge Routers. Spending has shifted from routers used for FTTx networks to routers and carrier Ethernet switches used for mobile backhaul in China.
The telecom analysis report noted that router and carrier Ethernet switch deployments for mobile backhaul in China have softened recently.
