Vodafone launches national MNP, follows Airtel

Following the footsteps of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India has launched national Mobile Number Portability (MNP).

The pan-India Mobile Number Portability services will be available from July 3, 2015, said Vodafone in a statement.
Bharti Airtel announced the launch of MNP early today. Other telecoms are expected to follow suit.

# Generate an 8 digit UPC code by sending a sms ‘Port <your mobile no>’ to 1900
# Fill up the CAF and porting-in form and submit relevant documents
# Choose your tariff plan

Vodafone has a mobile subscriber base of over 184 million customers serviced through a network of over 130,000 sites. Out of this, 35,000 are 3G sites. Vodafone India is the 5th largest network in the world. Vodafone also has the largest retail footprint with over 9800 exclusive retail stores across India.

“Customers will be the biggest gainers of the National MNP service as it allows them to carry their existing number across India and also choose the operator of their choice,” said Vivek Mathur, chief commercial officer of Vodafone India.
