Vodafone invests Rs 480 crore to improve telecom network in UP East

Indian telecom service provider Vodafone today said it has invested Rs 480 crore to improve its mobile network and distribution in Uttar Pradesh East between April 2014 and March 2015.

Vodafone has added more than 800 new 3G sites across UP East in the past 12 months. More than 4.5 crore residents across multiple regions of UP East are within the Vodafone 3G network.

Vodafone now has more than 12,200 3G and 2G sites in UP East covering over close to 97 percent of the telecom circle’s population.

“It is our customers trust and support that has enabled us to achieve leadership position across key parameters – Network, Subscriber base, Retail footprint and Revenue Market Share,” said Pankaj Thapliyal, business head – UP East, Vodafone India.

3G now contributes to 55 percent of data revenues and 60 percent of data volumes. Data is growing at 90 percent and total data users are now at 50 percent of enabled handset base. Data revenues contribute to 35 percent of incremental service revenue.

Vodafone India has more than 2.25 lakh retail outlets in the circle, and close to 800 Vodafone stores.

Over the past 12 months, Vodafone has launched 11 Global Design Stores in the Circle, as part of an initiative.
