Vodafone India offers Amazon video to enhance content revenue

Vodafone LTE networkTelecom operator Vodafone India will offer Amazon Prime video to its customers, as part of its strategy to enhance revenue from video content.

Vodafone India, which has over 204 million customers including 106 million users in rural areas, is struggling to enhance the number of mobile Internet subscribers due to pricing competition from Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti Airtel.

Amazon Prime video offers latest and exclusive Bollywood, Hollywood and regional movies, US TV shows, kids’ programming and global Amazon Originals from March 22 to Vodafone India consumers in India.

Vodafone users need to subscribe to Amazon Prime via MyVodafone App or Vodafone Website for an annual subscription price of Rs 499 and will get Rs 250 cash-back as Amazon Pay Balance. Currently, the offer is available only for Vodafone customers using Android devices.

“This partnership with Amazon Prime Video further strengthens our content proposition on the data strong Vodafone SuperNet 4G network,” said Sandeep Kataria, director – Commercial, Vodafone India.
