Vodafone India half year revenue up 0.43% to $3.26 billion

Telecom service provider Vodafone said its revenue in the first half of fiscal 2014-15 rose 0.43 percent to £2,057 million or $3.26 billion from £2,048 million.

The company said its service revenue increased 11.7 percent, driven by customer growth, strong data usage and improved voice pricing.

Mobile customers increased by 7.3 million during the first half of the financial year to 173.8 million at 30 September 2014.

Data usage grew 94.6 percent, driven by mobile internet customer growth. The number of Vodafone data customers is 57.2 million, including 13.6 million 3G customers and 33.9 million smartphone users representing 19.5 percent penetration of the total customer base.

Vodafone Group said its H1 revenue rose 8.9 percent to £20.8 billion, while organic service revenue dipped 2.8 percent to £19.1 billon.

It posted profit of £1 million.

In the second quarter, Q2 Group organic service revenue decreased 1.5 percent.

Vodafone achieved improved service revenue performance in key markets in Q2 including Germany 3.4 percent, Italy 9.7 percent and UK 3 percent, Spain 9.3 percent, India 13.2 percent and Vodacom 0.3 percent.
