Telecom network operator Vodafone India announced its investments in setting up additional cell sites in Mumbai to ensure better customer experience.

The company is not talking about offering in-building coverage. Vodafone India says “it is making significant investments in ramping up and modernizing its network in Mumbai.”

In the first six months of the current financial year, Vodafone has rolled out more than 1,000 sites and invested more than Rs 500 crore in Mumbai.

The result of network investment will be better connectivity to people residing in the innermost sections of the city, including traditionally difficult to access areas, because of logistical challenges like overcrowded and low rise structures.

Vodafone India has 8.5 million subscribers in Mumbai. 54 percent of Mumbai’s population lives in slum clusters, according to World Bank estimates.

“Reaching out to the local workforce of Mumbai, we are enhancing our network in areas which have been traditionally difficult to facilitate network because of logistical challenges like overcrowded and low-rise structures,” said Ishmeet Singh, business head – Mumbai, Vodafone India.

Meanwhile, Vodafone has introduced two Recharge packs.

Vodafone Super Recharge for Rs 39 offers a choice of five options in a single Recharge.
# 110 local minutes for Vodafone to Vodafone calls
# 65 minutes of STD
# Full talk time of INR 39
# 175MB 2G mobile internet
# 110GB 3G mobile internet

Vodafone has also introduced a Bonus Card for Rs 4 that enables customers to make Vodafone to Vodafone mobile calls at 10p/min, local and STD mobile calls at 30p/min, with a validity of 90 days.
