Videocon Telecom to spend Rs 5 crore to motivate employees

Indian telecom network operator Videocon Telecom will be spending Rs 5 crore to motivate its employees.

As part of employee engagement program, the regional telecom operator will be flying more than 600 employees from across verticals to Phuket, Thailand on October 2, 2105 for a 5-day excursion and Bi-annual Reward and Recognition event for the current financial year.

“Reward and recognition initiatives will go a long way in building up employee confidence in the organization,” said Arvind Bali, director and CEO, Videocon Telecommunications.

This is the second overseas destination excursion for its employees. Videocon Telecom said it took more than 500 employees to Bangkok, Thailand in April. This will be the second overseas trip for some employees in six months.

Videocon Telecom recently announced national pension scheme. Among other initiatives planned are on employee training and development programs with leading business schools including IIMs and IMT.

“Competition is fierce in this dynamic industry and we have to ensure employees are engaged and motivated to minimize attrition. We would be spending a good amount of money on various employee engagement programs,” Bali added.

As part of employee engagement plans, Videocon Telecom will be investing in employee learning and development. It plans to organize Management Development Programs (MDP) and Executive Development Programs (EDP) for its employees with Business schools including IIMs, IMT etc.
