Telkomsel users start contactless mobile payments

Telecom network operator Telkomsel has joined hands with Verifone Mobile Money and Finnet to launch TCash Tap for making contactless mobile payments to merchants across Indonesia.

Telkomsel’s more than 140 million subscribers will be able to tap and pay using their NFC enabled mobile devices at fast food, cinema and supermarkets. Some of the merchants, who receive contactless mobile payments, include McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Coffee Bean, Baskin Robins, 7 Eleven, Cinema XXI, GraPARI, Alfamart and Indomaret stores.

Verifone Mobile Money’s software enables mobile phones and merchant terminals to connect to the TCash wallet enabling tap and pay with mobile handsets for purchases. Finnet interbank connectivity provides the mobile user access to Indonesia’s Banks.

Telkomsel has built more than 88,000 base stations to serve its customers. Telkomsel aims to build broadband city in Indonesia, with now reaching 369 cities. Telkomsel operates a 24-hour call center and more than 400 service centers GraPARI across Indonesia.
