TeliaSonera appoints Johan Dennelind as new president and CEO

Telecom Lead Europe: TeliaSonera has appointed Johan Dennelind as the new president and CEO.

Before joining TeliaSonera, Johan Dennelind worked with Vodacom International, based in South Africa, as its CEO.

Johan Dennelind will take on his new position on September 1, 2013 and will be available for the company from July 1, 2013.

Per-Arne Blomquist will remain as acting CEO until September 1 and then return to his role as Executive Vice President and CFO of TeliaSonera, the company said on Monday.

Blomquist became the acting CEO as the earlier president and CEO Lars Nyberg stepped down after controversies.

Earlier, a report by Mannheimer Swartling said TeliaSonera’s internal controls were not sufficient to ensure that it did not risk becoming involved in any unethical business, and that thereby the company’s internal ethical guidelines were not followed completely.

“Johan Dennelind brings with him almost 20 years of experience from the telecommunication industry and has during his time at Telenor and most recently at Vodacom proven that he can successfully lead organizations in significant change processes within an international environment,” said TeliaSonera’s Chairman Marie Ehrling.
