Telefónica Vivo deploys HP subscriber activation solution for 4G and 3G

Telecom Lead America:
Brazilian mobile service provider Telefónica Vivo has deployed HP Mobile Subscriber Activation Solution for 4G and 3G.

The HP Mobile Subscriber Activation Solution, a part of the HP OSS portfolio, will enable Telefónica Vivo — the largest telecom company in Brazil — to reduce time to market for activation of 3G mobile and 4G / LTE users.

HP — in an announcement today — says this is a critical deployment and an important step toward realizing its mission of creating
conditions that enable more people to connect quickly and efficiently to the services.

Leveraging the HPMobile Subscriber Activation Solution, Telefónica Vivo will define, organize and automate the tasks required to configure and activate a service across platforms, network elements and application servers.

This allows the telecom service provider to deliver services to market faster, while improving the activation process quality by reducing the
number of activations requiring manual intervention.

With 29.66 percent market share in mobile, Telefonica Vivo has over 91 million accesses nationwide. The company is present in more than 3700 towns, over 3100 of them with access to the 3G network – more than the total number of cities served by other carriers.

Telefonica Group’s investments planned for Brazil during 2011-2014 are around R $ 24.3 billion.

HP Mobile Subscriber Activation Solution is based on HP Service Activator, which activates multivendor network elements, network managers and systems throughout Telefónica Vivo’s mobile core network and value-added services platforms.

Recently, Ciena assisted Telefonica Vivo to deploy Brazil’s first active 100G network which connects native 100GbE channels to the DWDM system to provide unprecedented speeds for outbound international traffic.

The network includes 100G routes that connect the cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Praia Grande, Brazil. Ciena’s industry-leading 100G coherent solution will add significant bandwidth, scalability and reliability to Telefonica Vivo’s network infrastructure.
