Mavenir is concentrating on big business, while NEC is exploring partnerships with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) to reduce costs. Khazanah Acquires INCJ’s Stake in EDOTCO

Khazanah, Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, will buy Innovation Network Corporation of Japan’s (INCJ) stake in EDOTCO Group, a telecommunications infrastructure provider. EDOTCO operates over 55,000 towers across Asia and provides services like tower leasing and energy solutions. This move shows Khazanah’s commitment to growing Malaysia’s digital infrastructure.

Kyivstar Boosts Network Resilience and Prepares for 5G and Open RAN

Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest telecom operator, is improving network resilience with partnerships and new technology, Lightreading.com report said. The company has added power backup systems and partnered with Starlink to offer a direct-to-device service. Kyivstar is also testing open RAN technology with Rakuten and plans a small 5G pilot by the end of the year. Despite challenges from the war, Kyivstar is expanding digital services and moving towards a tech-focused company.

Miri Technologies to Showcase X510 Router at NAB Show

Miri Technologies will debut its X510 dual-cellular bonding router at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. The router combines multiple internet connections, including 4G, 5G, Starlink, and Wi-Fi, to improve connectivity for live streaming and remote production. It ensures stable internet, even in areas with poor network coverage. Miri also offers a “Try Before You Buy” program for customers in the U.S. to test the router before purchasing.

Foreign Smartphone Shipments in China Drop by 21 percent

Shipments of foreign-branded smartphones, including Apple’s iPhone, dropped by 21 percent in January, according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT). Shipments decreased from 5.542 million units in January 2024 to 4.398 million units in January 2025. The drop reflects changing competition in China’s smartphone market.

Metronet Expands Fiber-Optic Network in Round Lake Beach, Illinois

Metronet is expanding its fiber-optic network in Round Lake Beach, Illinois. This will bring internet speeds up to five gigabits per second for homes and ten gigabits per second for businesses. The service will help with activities like video calls, streaming, and gaming. Construction will begin soon, with the first locations expected to get service by late spring.
