Bader Allhieb, Infrastructure VP at Saudi Telecom Company (stc), says Juniper Networks’ technology solutions are playing a crucial role in assisting stc with its 5G services expansion by enhancing network capacity, efficiency, and sustainability.
To meet the increasing demand for mobile, broadband, residential, and B2B services, stc has upgraded its core network and key data centers using Juniper’s advanced routing solutions. The deployment of PTX10008 Packet Transport Routers in stc’s Converged Supercore network provides a high-performance infrastructure with a capacity of 115.2 Tbps in a compact form factor.
This upgrade has resulted in a 1,340 percent increase in 100G capacity and an 864-port boost in 400G capacity per rack, enabling the network to handle growing traffic demands efficiently. The PTX10008 router’s 800G-ready architecture ensures that stc is prepared for future scalability while also achieving a 43 percent reduction in power consumption per gigabit, aligning with its commitment to sustainability.
stc’s data center modernization has been driven by the implementation of Juniper Networks’ MX10008 routers, which deliver a capacity of 76.8 Tbps and are designed for seamless 400G adoption. This modernization has led to a 384-port increase in 400G capacity per site, a 90 percent reduction in physical space requirements, and an 87 percent decrease in power consumption per gigabit compared to previous designs.
The adoption of these high-performance, energy-efficient routers allows stc to optimize its infrastructure while ensuring the delivery of fast and reliable connectivity to its customers, Bader Allhieb, Infrastructure VP, stc, said.
By integrating Juniper’s programmable PTX and MX platforms, stc has accelerated model-driven automation, enabling more streamlined and efficient network operations. These platforms support advanced technologies such as gRPC services, OpenConfig, NETCONF/Yang, and native data models, allowing stc to simplify network management and enhance operational flexibility.
With Juniper’s routing solutions at the core of its network, stc can scale its 5G services while reducing its carbon footprint and operational costs. This transformation supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by facilitating the country’s digital growth and improving connectivity for millions of users.
