STC achieved successes for the Jawal networks in the
central areas of the two holy mosques in Makkah and Medina during the first
week of holy month of Ramadan, thus, countervailing the excess in number of
Umra performers and other visitors, in order to ensure the smoothness of
passing their domestic and international calls, SMS, MMS and mobile internet
services.
The 3G high speed services reported a widely extensive
usage this year, with 90% higher than last year in the central area in Makkah,
while it recorded 35 percent higher than last year in the central area of the
Mosque of the prophet (Al-Haram Al-Nabawi) in Medina. This increase is
attributed to the customers’ usage of smart devices that support internet
applications and facilitate high speeds browsing through STC Jawal network.
Results also showed 22 percent increase in using 2G
network than last year same period in Makkah and 50 percent in Medina.
STC annually raises its alert level due to intensive
traffic in the two holy cities during the holy month of Ramadan, shores its
networks and maintains all fixed and mobile towers to ensure its readiness to
competently transfer information and communications’ traffic.
STC networks are subject to continuous monitoring and
follow up from the National Network Control Centers in Riyadh and Jeddah, under
the management and supervision of skillful national human cadres who are well
trained to deal with the utmost peak of communications’ traffic and information
transfer in international standards.
