Spectrum auction bid remains at Rs 1 lakh crore on Friday

Spectrum auction, according to the Ministry of Communications and IT, fetched over Rs 1 lakh crore as per the provisional bidding on Friday.

This indicates that there is no change from Thursday.

The government is selling spectrum in the 2100 MHz, 1800 MHz, 900 MHz and 800 MHz bands via an auction targeting at least Rs 120,000 crore.

Telecom operator such as Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Vodafone India, Reliance Communications, Aircel, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Uninor and Tata Teleservices are participating in the 2015 March spectrum auction. BSNL, MTNL and Videocon Telecom are not participating.

These telecom operators have completed 6 rounds of spectrum bidding on Friday. The total number of bids is 55 rounds.

“At the end of 55th round today, over 87 percent of the spectrum has been provisionally allocated to bidders. The provisional amount committed by bidders at the end of 55th round continues to be over Rs 1 lakh crore,” said a statement from the government.
