SK Telecom recently announced that it would be planning a capital expenditure (Capex) of KRW 2 trillion for 2017.
This means SK Telecom, a leading telecom operator in Korea, will not be increasing its Capex this year as compared with 2016.
SK Telecom ended last year with a Capex of KRW 2 trillion as was guided at the beginning of the year.
“While there are factors that entail investment such as the newly acquired spectrum or ICT related businesses, we will manage the expenditure at the similar level as that of last year through higher investment efficiency,” said SK Telecom executives.

SK Telecom, in January, announced plans to invest KRW 11 trillion over next three years including – in various areas including the new ICT business area. These investments include investments in network, R&D and technology.
SK Telecom will be allocating KRW 6 trillion in infrastructure for network leadership and KRW 5 trillion in establishing the ICT ecosystem and to find the next growth engine.
SK Telecom’s goal is to secure the leadership as the new ICT leader in the ICT ecosystem within the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
SK Telecom is aiming to make investment in innovation in areas of the convergence technologies including artificial intelligence and big data and also the creation of new business models throughout the industry.
SK Telecom aims to ensure refraining from any excessive investment through efficient network investment.
