Result of drive tests shows poor mobile network across India

TRAl has announced the result of the drive tests in four cities of Aurangabad, Belgaum, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, and Rajkot.

TRAl has also conducted drive tests in four highways. Drive tests were conducted to assess the network quality provided by cellular mobile telephone service providers for voice and data services.

Most of the TSPs have met the 2 percent of drop call rate including BSNL 3G, Tata 3G and Telenor 3G in Aurangabad, BSNL and Tata 3G in Rajkot, Tata CDMA in Belgaum, BSNL 2G and Tata CDMA in Jamshedpur. Most of TSPs are not meeting 3G QoS benchmark of 2 percent of drop call rate except Tata 3G and Reliance Jio in Jamshedpur.

All the TSPs have met the 3 percent of QoS benchmark of Call Block rate (CBR percent) in Kolkata. All TSPs have met the 3 percent of QoS benchmark of Call Block rate except Tata in Aurangabad, Rajkot Belgaum and Tata CDMA in Jamshedpur.

All TSPs have met the Rx Quality >95 percent of QoS benchmark for 2G services except for 3G and 4G, no TSPs are meeting this QoS bench mark in Aurangabad LSA. In Rajkot Airtel 2G and BSNL 2G.

All TSPs in 3G and 4G are not meeting in Kolkata Airtel 3G, Tata 3G and JIO is not meeting. In Belgaum Tata, Airtel 3G and Jio are not meeting. In Jamshedpur Tata CDMA, Airtel 3G, Vodafone3G and Reliance Jio are not meeting this parameter.

Vodafone 4G in Aurangabad, Idea 4G in Rajkot, Reliance Jio 4G in Kolkata, Bharti Airtel 4G in Belgaum and Idea 4G in Jamshedpur offered the highest download throughput.

Jaipur to Kota

All TSPs have met QoS benchmark of Drop Call Rate of 2 percent, except MTS and Tata CDMA. Rx Quality >95 percent benchmark was not met by MTS, Tata CDMA, Airtel 3G and Reliance Jio.

Lucknow to Allahabad

All TSPs have met QoS benchmark of Drop Call Rate of 2 percent except Tata (CDMA ) and BSNL.

QoS benchmark of Rx Quality >95 percent was not met by Tata CDMA, Airtel, BSNL and Reliance Jio.

Patna to Ranchi

All TSPs have met the QoS benchmark of Drop Call Rate of 2 percent except Aircel, BSNL, RCOM, Tata COMA, Airtel 3G and Vodafone. QoS benchmark of Rx Quality >95 percent is not met by Tata for 2G services and in case of 3G, 4G services it is met by Idea Cellular only.
