Orange France initiates LTE Pilot in Marseille; aims to cover more cities by year end

Telecom Lead Europe: Telecom service provider Orange
France is set to offer its 4G-LTE services Lyon and Nantes by the end of the
year. The operator has also initiated a LTE pilot in Marseille and will add 12
other cities by summer 2013.

 

For its LTE pilots in Marseille, Lyon and Nantes, Orange
will provide 4G equipments to 2,500 testers including Group employees and mass
market and business customers to discover 4G services.

 

The service provider is offering its 4G-LTE services
through a combination of 4G frequencies 2.6 GHz and 800 MHz. Orange seeks to
unveil  first 4G commercial offers in the coming months.

 

The operator said that it will broadcast the Sosh
Freestyle Cup live on its 4G network to demonstrate both the performance and
the extent of its 4G network in the city Marseille.

 

The operator is also using Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and
Huawei’s E392 4G key & E589 4G Domino as part of these demonstrations.

 

25 percent TD-LTE connections by 2016: Ovum

 

With more countries are deploying LTE network on
Time-Division Duplex standard, it is estimated that 25 percent of all LTE
connections will include LTE TDD by 2016, according to Ovum.

 

France Telecom-Orange selects BI solution from MACH

 

In April, France Telecom-Orange selected
MACH’s Subscriber Performance Manager business intelligence
solution to help grow the roaming revenues of its group members.
