Orange deploys LoRa network for IoT in 1,300 towns

Orange
Telecom network operator Orange announced the deployment of its LoRa network – dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT) — in 1,300 towns in 18 urban areas in France.

Orange has already achieved its full year target in the middle of the year. Orange’s LoRa network will support the projects of its enterprise and municipality customers and partners.

Orange’s LoRa network will be available in 120 urban areas – approximately 2,600 towns – by the end of January 2017, offering connectivity both indoors and outdoors.

Orange expects to generate 600 million euros in revenues from the Internet of Things business by 2018 as per its Essentials2020 strategic plan.

The LoRa connectivity service offered by Orange Business Services enables the operator to support its customers’ projects based on objects or sensors with low power consumption.

Orange has more than 10 million M2M objects in its fleet. Orange adapts its 2G and 4G cellular networks to the Internet of Things.
