Ooredoo in deal with Brightstar for supply chain management
Telecom network operator Ooredoo announced its partnership with wireless distributor Brightstar to boost supply chain management.

Brightstar, as per the agreement with to Ooredoo, will provide support for procuring mobile devices, forecasting, channel management and distribution, offering accessories, mobile digital solutions, device insurance and protection solutions.

The deal will enhance Ooredoo’s strategic focus on the mobile sector, particularly as the company looks to expand wearable technology, and enrich digital lifestyles of its customers.

Ooredoo aims to boost its leadership position as a leading data provider in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. Ooredoo posted revenues of $9.1 billion in 2014 and had a consolidated global customer base of more than 107 million people as of 31 December 2014.

“With this support, we will be able to increase the level of smartphone penetration in our markets and enhance our data revenue,” said Ahmed Al Derbesti, COO of Ooredoo Group.

Ela Cubukcu, regional managing director for Turkey, the Middle East, and North Africa of Brightstar, said that programs like buyback and trade-in, protection, and leasing and financing programs are essential to bring the consumer experience to new levels.

The partnership will begin in Ooredoo’s key markets of Qatar and Kuwait with the launch of buyback and trade-in initiatives, device insurance programs, and IT devices and accessories procurement.

Ooredoo has a presence in markets such as Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Algeria, Tunisia, Iraq, Palestine, the Maldives, Myanmar and Indonesia.
