MTS India posts Rs 3,745 mn revenue, Rs 4,004 mn net loss in Q2

MTS India (Sistema Shyam Teleservices) said its revenues grew 12 percent to $59.26 million or INR 3,745 million in Q2 2015.

MTS said its net loss increased 2.4 percent to INR 4,004 million.

The telecom operator made investments of $5.3 million during Q2 2015.

Blended mobile ARPU of MTS India for the quarter increased 5 percent to INR 134 on account of increase in data usage.

Non-voice revenues — from both data and mobile VAS — increased 13.4 percent to INR 2,072 million. MTS said its data card subscriber base rose 8.9 percent to 1.9 million subscribers.

Non-voice revenues contribute 55.3 percent of total revenues.

MTS has expanded its HSD services to more than 1,000 towns across 9 circles.

MTS India posted an OIBDA loss of Rs 54.1 crore in Q2 2015, OIBDA loss reduced by 58 percent q-o-q on account of increase in data revenues, optimization of sales and marketing expenditure and reduction in interconnect charges during the quarter.

MTS is now OIBDA positive in six out of its nine operating circles. The six OIBDA positive circles are Delhi, Kolkata, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

“All our operational parameters have shown significant improvement during the quarter which has resulted in 12 percent growth in consolidated revenues,” said Dmitry Shukov, chief executive officer of Sistema Shyam Teleservices.

MTS said its mobile subscriber base declined quarter-on-quarter and reached 8.7 million customers as of June 30 2015.

MTS reported an OIBDA loss of INR 541 million, reducing by 58 percent q-o-q on account of increase in data revenues, optimization of sales and marketing expenditure and reduction in interconnect charges during the quarter.
