The telecom operator said it faced a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack after hackers tried to paralyse a network by flooding it with unusually high volumes of data traffic.

“It was the largest attack of this type on the T-Mobile network, and to our knowledge also the largest direct attack on a mobile network operator in Poland,” it said. T-Mobile does not reveal its IT budget or information related to its cyber security partners.

T-Mobile also said the attack and its consequences were being analysed and were reported to the relevant authorities.

T‑Mobile recently said it is currently launching an average of over 120 5G stations per week throughout Poland, consistently implementing the goal of providing the highest quality services also via the largest 5G network.

T‑Mobile is switching off the 3G network on 2100 MHz spectrum, launching the LTE network on the released frequencies. The results of Speedtest.pl indicate that T‑Mobile is the #1 in each month of the second quarter with a constantly growing average data transfer speed. T Mobile Polska serves over 11 million customers in Poland.

T‑Mobile Polska recorded revenues of PLN 1.58 billion and EBITDA AL of PLN 453 million in the second quarter of 2021.
