China Telecom launches UK MVNO running on Everything Everywhere network

Telecom Lead Asia: China Telecom has launched its UK MVNO
running on Everything Everywhere’s network.

 

The launch of the CTExcelbiz service marks the first time
a Chinese-owned MVNO has operated outside China.

The pay-as-you-go service will be run by the China Telecom Europe subsidiary
and has been tailored for Chinese people living in and visiting the U.K.

Services include Chinese language voicemail, bilingual Chinese and English
customer service, unlimited free calls between CTExcelbiz users, a local
Chinese number and low-cost bundles. Users will also have access to a chat
application and an information service for travelling around the UK.

As the service will be running on Everything Everywhere’s network, users will
have 3G and HSPA+ access.

China Telecom Europe MD Yan OU said the company is planning to expand its
relationship with Everything Everywhere to launch in other European markets in
the near future.

 

China Telecom to up capital expenditure by 9% to $8.54 billion
in 2012

 

China Telecom will increase its capital expenditure by 9
percent to $8.54 billion in 2012.

 

China Telecom reported $2.6 billion profit in 2011. Its
Revenue rose 11.7 percent to $39.5 billion.

 

China Telecom’s revenues for its mobile service increased
43 percent last year and became the biggest single component of its business.
Revenue for fixed-line voice service fell 20.4 percent compared with 2010.
